My Story

My passion in nutrition was kickstarted after I had my first child. I became aware of the importance of what we eat and the profound effect it can have on our overall health. I wanted to be empowered to be able to nurture myself and my family.

Fast forward a few years (and 2 more children later), I enrolled at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Bristol onto a 3 year course in naturopathic nutrition. I wanted to take a deep dive into human physiology and learn the intricacies of nutrition and the role it plays in health and disease.

The twist in my story came when, during my biomedicine year, I discovered I had the autoimmune thyroid disease Hashimoto's and an under-active thyroid. This was my lightbulb moment!

It explained so many of the symptoms i'd been experiencing over the last few years and had been brushing off as a result of just being a busy mum.

My myriad of symptoms included:

constant tiredness and fatigue - never feeling refreshed after sleep and never feeling fully awake. Everyone around me always seemed to have more energy than me...

mild depression - I would have very down days and weeks...

cold hands and feet - always!

brain fog - forgetting what I was talking about mid-sentence and feeling like my brain was made of cotton wool...

menstrual irregularities - including missed periods, long cycles and month-long PMS!

It was a turning point. Although along with this came the overwhelming feeling of being completely lost with no idea of where to turn next.

I found a brilliant nutritional therapist who specialised in thyroid disorder. She supported and guided me through my thyroid journey to the point where a lot of my symptoms alleviated. Having someone in my corner who understood what it felt like and was able to help me navigate the confusing symptoms and the feelings of overwhelm was key to my recovery. It's a lifelong journey with Hashimoto's, but I now feel empowered to make the right choices for me.

This is why I do what I do now.

I want to be that beacon of light for those who are struggling with their health and don't know where to turn. I am here to support, educate and guide.

Because I know what it feels like.
